You Talk Me

Everybody loves Phil Mickelson, and I've got to say, at the Masters he looked as fit as I've ever seen him. What did you think of his win on Sunday? And what did you make of Tiger's performance?

Re: Lefty

Mickelson's performance was incredible and touching. I didn't want to compare what he did or said to Tiger, but it was hard not to notice the contrast.

He talked about being there for his wife, who's struggling with breast cancer, and taking his daughter for an X-ray after a roller-skating accident. He said you have to be there for your family, and he broke down a little when thinking about everything they've been through recently.

I'm not a big golf fan, but it was nice to see him win - not so much for Mickelson as for his family.

That shot Mickelson hit on No. 13 - between the trees, over the creek, onto the green, to grandmother's house he went - was as amazing as any I've ever seen. Woods, for as lousy as he looked at times, still shot 11 under and finished fourth, maybe even more astounding than Mickelson's performance considering his layoff and all that was swirling around him.

Re: Lefty

Everybody's bashing Tiger for not being more gracious in defeat, but you know what? He should be angry he didn't win. He thinks he's the best golfer in the world, which he is. That's part of what makes him so great, of why he's been so successful and so feared.

Couldn't agree more. What do the patrons know? Besides, he'd had to put up with Gonz and crew all week.
